The Kingdom of Bahrain will host five major international tennis tournaments later this month and in November, the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) announced yesterday.
These events include the Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Asia/Oceania group competitions, and three consecutive International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Championships.
Each competition will be held on the BTF hard courts in Isa Town.
First up is the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III, scheduled to be held from October 17th to 21st.
The event will feature 15 women’s national teams from across the continent.
Target countries include Bhutan, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Vietnam, and host country Bahrain.
The Billie Jean King Cup is the major world tournament between national teams in women’s tennis.
The tournament, which will be held for the second time in this kingdom, is a zone-based tournament, with each team competing to advance to a higher group.
Bahrain will then host the 2023 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group V match.
The battle is scheduled for October 23rd to 30th and will involve 13 countries.
They are Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Tajikistan, Yemen, and host country Bahrain.
There are four groups in the round robin stage, with the top teams from each group advancing to the playoff round.
The two winners will advance to Group IV for next year’s Davis Cup competition.

Davis Cup is one of the premier world tournaments for men’s tennis, run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Saudi Arabia is hosting the Asia/Oceania team tournament for the third consecutive year.
Saudi Arabia will then host three ITF junior tournaments over three consecutive weeks.
Two of the championships will be J30 events, the first from October 30th to November 4th and the second from November 6th to November 11th.
The third is the J60 tournament, which will be held from November 13th to November 18th.
All three events are part of the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior, which brings together the world’s top tennis talent between the ages of 13 and 18.
Each Kingdom event features men’s and women’s singles and doubles matches.
The name of each tournament reflects the number of ranking points awarded to the single winner of that particular event.
The ITF World Tennis Tour is the main artery of the ATP and WTA Tours. In 2022, the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior offered her nearly 800 tournament opportunities to aspiring young players.
