Each week during the 2023 season, we’ll be digging through the Eagles media guide to find interesting nuggets.
The Eagles’ public relations interns do a great job filling in these little oddities in the media guide, and they serve as a good way to meet the players behind the helmets.
This week we spoke with linebacker Christian Ellis. He listed his favorite move as “all Disney movies.”
myself: Is your favorite Disney movie? Is that so?
Ellis: Yes, it is.
myself: When did it start?
Ellis: Ever since I was a child. As a matter of fact, I have 12 of her siblings, so Disney was the only way to keep us all quiet. So you can see everything. I think my favorite of the old school is probably Sleeping Beauty. And some new stuff, Moana, because obviously I’m Samoan. That was always good. And tangle. “Tangled” is one of my favorite girlfriends. Oddly enough, it’s my son’s favorite too.
myself: That’s wonderful. So where were you among the 12?
Ellis: The third.
myself: Third oldest?
Ellis: Yeah, I was there.
myself: So when you were taking care of your siblings, was that a pop in the movie?
Ellis: Ah, that’s right. We turned it on, everyone is quiet and enjoying the movie together. There’s definitely something about the old school stuff that we liked.
myself: Why do you think Sleeping Beauty was your favorite?
Ellis: Fighting dragons was always my favorite.
myself: cool. Have you ever been to Disney World or Disneyland?
Ellis: I have.
myself: Is It was fun?
Ellis: Hooray. Haven’t been there in a long time. It used to be a lot of fun. Let’s take a look. I heard Florida has more intense rides and California is more kid friendly.
myself: Where were you?
Ellis: California.
myself: Have you been to Disneyland?
Ellis: Well, I’ve never been to (Disney) World.
myself: How many children do you have?
Ellis: two.
myself: how old are they?
Ellis: 3 weeks …
myself: Congratulations.
Ellis: thank you. And 19 months. Over a year and a half, about a year and a half.
myself: So, are you looking forward to sharing those movies with them?
Ellis: Yeah. As I get older, I try to line everything up biblically, so some of the things I used to look at, I think, “Hmm, I don’t think that works with the way God designed the world.” But there are a few other things I’m sure they’ll love as much as I do.
myself: cool. thank you. I appreciate it
Ellis: of course.
