Described as ‘where city meets country’, the property was Tassie’s best-selling property this week.
48 Russell Road, Claremont, spans 28 hectares and was sold by PRD Hobart real estate agent Julian Stepik.
The winning bid for the property was $1.95 million, according to realestate.com.au.
Stepik said No. 48 was last purchased more than 50 years ago.
“In the past, it has been used for chicken, egg and pig production. Production ended in the late 1970s,” he said.

“We have received a number of inquiries about this property, from families needing space to developers wanting to build more homes.
“Some people want to use the warehouse for storage, while others are simply curious about what the property is like.”
Stepik said No. 48 was purchased by local residents, but he did not know what their plans were.
The approximately 70-acre property is located on the edge of Claremont, approximately 11 minutes from Glenorchy and 22 minutes from Hobart.
The land ranges from cleared land to gently sloping land to steep forest.
