Geelong Cats AFLW midfielder Lenny Garring and his husband Tony have ventured into the auction market to secure a new family home in Highton.
The Garings, along with their young son Parker, won the renovated four-bedroom Marquiny Cress home on Saturday in an auction contested between two groups.
The 899sqm property was sold for $1.18 million as the family moved beyond Huyton to a flat area in the suburbs.

“We knew we wanted to live in Huyton. We’ve just established ourselves in another area of Huyton and obviously like the proximity to schools, walking trails, local cafes etc.,” said Girling. said.
“We had been looking for a home for a while after selling and there was quite a bit of competition, especially for a 4 bedroom family home, so we were really happy to finally find what we were looking for. .”
Mr Girling said it was nice and flat and perfect for their needs.
“Everything has been renovated. It looks good and there’s still room to do more in the future.”
Sean O’Brien, agent for Ray White Huyton, said the home was set on 899 square meters of flat land in a prime location close to Christian College, Deakin University, Epworth Hospital and Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. He said it stands out in today’s market.
“It’s a really nice renovation. The family loves this house. They did the renovations themselves,” he said.
Indoor-outdoor living is centrally claimed in the brick mansion, with the main living hub leading to a large outdoor entertaining area and a solar heated pool in the north-facing backyard.
The interior features high-quality finishes throughout, from the hardwood timber floors to the stone benchtops in the kitchen and two bathrooms, complete with Miele cookware.
Mr. O’Brien started the auction with a vendor bid of $1.05 million, and the first bidder placed a bid of $1.06 million.
Two bidders quickly exchanged bids of $10,000, and O’Brien confirmed the property was on the market for $1.12 million.
Bids dropped to $5,000 increments until underbidders attempted two final $1,000 bids before a new owner was chosen.
The Garings recently sold their four-bedroom home on Oxbow Court for more than $1.7 million.
The home was built by Finch Builders with interior advice from The Design Co and is spread over four levels with three living rooms.
Garring returned to the Cats AFLW line-up this season after giving birth to Parker and returning from the club’s VFLW side earlier this year.
