TEHRAN – Tehran and Moscow discuss cooperation in the joint production of cars and car parts in a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Industry Minister Manucher Mantegi and Director of Russia’s Central Scientific Institute of Automobiles and Automotive Engines (NAMI) Fyodor Nazarov IRNA reported.
At the meeting, which was attended by executives from Iran’s leading car manufacturers Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) and SAIPA Group, the two sides announced the agreement between Iranian car manufacturers and NAMI to implement the Russian Institute’s standards for Iranian products. We sought ways for cooperation between the two countries.
Reducing the costs of exporting IKCO and SAIPA products to Russia and taking the necessary measures to create competitive opportunities for Iranian products in the Russian market were also among the topics discussed at the meeting.
At the meeting, Foreign Minister Nazarov pointed out that Iran’s automobile market and industry have made great progress and there is great potential for bilateral cooperation in this field.
The official said, “The NAMI laboratory has 115 kilometers of test lines for all types of vehicles, 3,000 test and measurement instruments for auto parts, and 40 different routes for carrying out various vehicle tests. There is,” he said.
He further emphasized that the institute is ready to jointly cooperate with Iranian companies, including SAIPA and IKCO, in areas such as science, vehicle design and vehicle testing.
“The testing of cars and car parts of the Russian NAMI Institute is approved by all centers around the world that have contracts with this company,” he added.
Mantegui called for the establishment of a representative office of the NAMI Institute in Tehran to carry out tests on Iranian-made cars and car parts.
Management of IKCO and SAIPA companies also made several proposals for joint cooperation with Russian institutes.
