USA Swimming on Thursday announced its open water roster for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, featuring a four-time world championship medalist. katie grimes Among the five swimmers named.
Grimes, 17, won bronze in the women’s 10km event at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, making her the first American athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympics in any event.

Grimes joined the U.S. pool swim roster last month by entering the women’s 200, 400 and 800 freestyle, making her the only American swimmer to compete in both pool and open water in Doha.
Puskovic, Bullinger and Brown all qualified for the team at the World Aquatics Open Water World Cup finals in Funchal, Portugal, earlier this month, and Grimes and Dennigan’s performances in Fukuoka secured them.
Dennigan placed eighth in the women’s 10k (the swim she qualified for) and 18th in the 5k at the 2023 World Championships.
Bullinger is currently training with the California Swim Team (TST). mark schubertAt the 2019 World Championships, he won a bronze medal as a member of the U.S. team in the open water team event.
In 2021, Bullinger qualified for the U.S. Olympic team in the men’s 800m pool and 1500m freestyle, ultimately finishing 17th in both in Tokyo.
Puskovich, who twice represented the United States at the World Junior Open Water Championships, told SwimSwam in September that he plans to attend West Virginia University in January after transferring from USC. He is currently training with his team Santa Monica (TSM Aquatics).
Brown will represent the United States on a major international stage for the first time. Bullinger finished third among American athletes in the 10K at the Funchal World Cup, but withdrew from the 5K in Doha, which left Brown’s spot open.
The team is led by corey chitwood, currently serving as associate head coach at Indiana University, where Dennigan trains and where Bullinger was previously based. Chitwood also served as head coach of the U.S. Open Water Team at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, and served as an assistant in Fukuoka earlier this year.

2024 World Championship Open Water Schedule

The open water portion of the 2024 World Aquatics Championships will be held from February 3rd to 8th at Old Doha Port.
USA Swimming last month named 18 members to its pool swimming pool, and that portion of the competition will be held from Feb. 11 to 18.
