What has become the world’s largest collector car auction returns to Kissimmee’s Osceola Heritage Park for the 25th consecutive year.
“As of today, our number of registered bidders is up more than 20% from last year’s record number, and we expect a record-breaking 4,500 to 5,000 vehicles to be sold at this year’s auction. ” said Dave Magers, CEO of Mecum Auctions. .
At last year’s event, Mecum auctioned a record 4,000 vehicles and became the first collector car auction in history to surpass $2 million in sales. In 2021, Mecum’s Kissimmee event topped collector car auction rival Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale, Arizona “Super Bowl” for the first time. Barrett-Jackson just beat Mecum by less than $5,000 in 2022, but Mecum made a explosive comeback in Kissimmee in 2023 with $2.34 million in sales.
Despite the huge numbers and potential to break records, Mecum remains focused on hosting family-friendly events.
“Ninety percent of Kissimmee’s visitors are not buyers or sellers. They come here to see historic cars, and families passing on part of their family history through cars they’ve owned in the past. “I hear a lot about that,” Majors said.
This year’s auction highlight car is a 1966 Ford GT-40 Mark I, one of only 30 built. The Ferrari trio is expected to fetch millions of dollars each. Another highlight is the Deering collection of vehicles based here in Florida, which includes a mix of vintage 4x4s such as the iconic Mopar “Superbird” and other muscle cars, Toyota Land Cruisers and Ford Broncos. I am.
In addition to collector cars, trucks, and motorcycles, a large-scale “car art” auction will also be held at the same time. This category includes anything car-related, but mostly antiques like gas station and oil signs and even gas pumps.
As has been the case every year since 2012, Mecum’s chosen charity, Cure Kids Cancer, is the focus of fundraising at each event. Auction participants will have the opportunity to donate to Curing Kids Cancer each day, and the highest daily donor will receive an autographed Her Mecum Auction Collector’s Clock. This watch is often auctioned off in sequence to benefit charities. Mecum events often also serve as a “vehicle” for collector car owners to sell their cars for the charity of their choice.
At this time, all RV spots at Heritage Park are sold out, and many area hotels are expected to fill up soon as well. Live coverage of Mecum Kissimmee is available on MotorTrendTV and MotorTrend+.
