Shotgun Sports placed second overall at the ACUI/SCTP Central Midwest Conference Championships, held Oct. 13-15 at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta, Illinois. . The Lions scored 2,171 of 2,250 targets and finished just four behind event champion Hillsdale College. Lindenwood won two of the six team events, placed second in three and placed third in the final event of the weekend, with multiple athletes earning individual medals.
The Lions took second place in doubles skeet, finishing two goals behind Hillsdale with a total of 243/250. Wyatt Williams (50), Reese Sparks (49), Grace Corselli (48), Matthew Blankenship (48) and Matthew Lorio (48) all contributed to Lindenwood’s scoring. Individually, Williams took second place in the boys division after a shoot-off with Hillsdale’s Davis Hay.
The Lions won the double trap with a score of 243/250. Jacob Diller (49), Samuel Gilman (49), wyatt quick (49), landon seavers (48), and Matthew Keist He contributed to the victory with a score of (48). Individually, Diller and Gilman placed second and third with 49 points each.
In super sports, ben warwick (49), jake dean (48), Christian Jackowski (48), Sparks (48), trace hatfield (47) shot a 240 overall, placing second as a Lindenwood team. The Lions fell just one goal short of Hillsdale. Individually, Corseri completed 46 out of 50 shots and took second place in the women’s competition.
Lindenwood won the team title with the Sporting Clays with Dean (95), bullet play (92), conor vose (92), Lorio (92), ryan pena Individually, Dean was tied for second place with Davis Hay, ultimately earning that spot after a shoot-off. Corseri posted a score of 89 and finished runner-up in the ladies.
In American skeet, Pena (99), Vose (98), Sparks (98), Quick (98), Vanessa Donato (97) Ranked 2nd on the team with a total of 490 points. Individually, Peña and Donato took third place in the men’s and women’s races after a shoot-off.
The Lions finished third in the American Trap with Hatfield (100). Tristan Stubbs (99), Quick (99), clayton mcgi (98) and Diller (97) make it 493/500. Individually, Hatfield tied for first place with three other players and ultimately took third place after a shoot-off.
The ACUI Central Midwest Conference Championship was part of the College Shotgun Bowl Series and featured 24 teams from around the region.
Shotgun Sports heads to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the NSCA National Championships to be held at the National Shooting Complex from October 21-24.
