The final day of sectional play for WPIAL women’s soccer is Monday.
The race for a playoff spot in Section 2-4A has been close all season, with one game separating three teams.
When Mount Lebanon visits Bethel Park, it’s a win-win game.
The Blue Devils are 7-4-2 and the Blackhawks are 7-6.
In the first matchup on September 9th, Mount Lebanon defeated Bethel Park 3-0.
Canon McMillan is also 7-4-2, but Big Mac has already qualified for the playoffs heading into the final regular season game at Baldwin (2 wins, 11 losses).
If Canon McMillan and Bethel Park lose, Big Mac will do better. A loss for Canon Mac and Mount Lebanon would tie the score, but Big Mac won the tiebreaker after winning the head-to-head matchup with the Blue Devils 1-0-1.
To qualify for the 3A postseason
Another question mark for the postseason is Section 2-3A, where Laurel Highlands sits in fourth place with a 7-6 record, a half-game behind Belle Vernon, which is 6-6-1.
On Monday, Laurel Highlands hosts Connellsville (9-4) and Belle Vernon hosts Elizabeth Forward (10-2).
If Laurel Highlands ties and Belle Vernon wins, resulting in both teams tied for fourth place, both teams will qualify.
