He warned that the country was facing human suffering.
He reiterated his call for a humanitarian ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, and the distribution of life-saving medicines.

According to preliminary reports, countries that voted against the resolution include Israel, the United States, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Fiji, Guatemala, Papa New Guinea, Paraguay, Tonga, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Nauru.
At the General Assembly, the United States and the United Kingdom reiterated their previous positions of supporting Israel’s right to protect its people, while encouraging Israel, Egypt, and other actors to alleviate humanitarian crises and work toward a two-state solution.
Ground operation
Despite calls from world powers to reduce the conflict and reduce human suffering, Israel announced yesterday that it plans to extend its Gaza ground operation.
The announcement came after a two-week tank invasion of Gaza.
According to AFP news agency, Hamas armed forces responded with a volley of rockets aimed at Israel.
All internet and telecommunications connections have been cut off in the Gaza Strip since Friday due to constant Israeli bombing.
The United Nations’ Palestinian refugee agency has warned that many more people will die in the Gaza Strip due to catastrophic shortages of food, water and medicine.
