The Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East (PCCME) is set to open the 2023/2024 season this weekend with a 16-car grid at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir in support of this year’s Bapco Energy 8 Hour Endurance Race is. Bahrain.
The region’s leading one-make series will rebrand and feature drivers after previously being held as the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East. PCCME competitors compete in his three categories including Pro, Pro-Am, and Am.
There is also a separate class where GCC drivers compete for honors.
The field will be headlined by the Bahraini pair of Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa of Team Bahrain and Sheikh Jaber bin Ali Al Khalifa of the 1%.
Shaikh Salman and Shaikh Jaber are both competing in the Am category of PCCME and are eyeing the highest honor among GCC competitors.
The talented duo will be hoping to fly the Kingdom’s flag high at their home circuit in the first two races of the new campaign.
In preparation for the start of the new PCCME campaign, official pre-season testing was held at BIC last weekend, giving competitors the chance to get some valuable driving time in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup car.
This weekend’s season-opening PCCME Sprint will be held Friday at 6 p.m. Race 2 will be held Saturday at 11am.
