Meanwhile, Al-Arabi appointed Bosnian coach Darko Nestrovic as the team’s manager on Tuesday. The decision was made in response to the team’s declining performance in both the local league and the AFC Cup, which led to the sacking of former manager Tomas Berdaric. Darko Nestrovic, 58, plays for Al Arabi and has previously worked with junior and youth teams. He also led the first team and achieved impressive results. After his tenure at Al-Arabi, he served as coach Kazma and then Jordan’s Al-Wedat. Darko has also coached various teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Rudar Prijedor, Sloboda Markonic, Rudanic Bjelina and Crvejna Zverda.
Al Arabi’s first game as manager is scheduled after tomorrow’s AFC Cup match against Bahrain’s Rifa. The club’s management aim to offer him the opportunity to restructure the squad, especially since local competitions have been postponed until the 25th of this month due to international commitments.
In another development, Al Arabi’s fitness coach Riccardo Briotti reacted to the club’s dismissal announcement. He said his decision to resign was due to family circumstances, and emphasized his qualifications and work history. He expressed his gratitude to Al Arabi’s players, calling them the team’s true assets, but expressed dissatisfaction with the management’s actions.
