The Ellicottville girls soccer team lost just one game this season against the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division in their bid to win the league championship. The standout among his teammates was Brooke Butler, who had 26 goals and five assists and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Butler was joined by three other first-team teammates: Audrey Hurlburt, Cameron Kaleta and Addison John. Harburt played a big role in the attack, scoring 16 goals and adding 9 assists. John scored one goal and added eight assists. And defenseman Caleta headlined the Ellicottville defense, allowing just five goals in league play and adding one assist.
Portville finished second in the league, losing only to Ellicottville. Three players have joined the first team: Grace Gariepy, Meghan Lyle and Natalie Reynolds.
Coach Randolph also added three first-team All-Stars in Quinn Pence, Gianna Bowles and Sarah Smith. Bowles paced the Cardinals’ offense with 18 goals and six assists, Pence had eight goals and six assists, and Smith had three goals and eight assists.
Two Salamanca players were named to the first team, defenders Summer Downie and Madisyn Lafferty, who had two goals and two assists.
The only first-team selection from Pine Valley/Gowanda was Sarah Kruschka, who led the Panthers with nine goals and three assists.
Ellicottville added three second-team All-Stars in Courtney Marsh, Drew Fisek and Keelin Finn. Ashley Carles, Mackenzie Harmon and Olivia Dean, all from Portville; Randolph added Zoe Dickerson, Stella Smith and Sadie Steward. Salamanca was represented by Vera Wolf and Keanna John. Arianna Baldo was selected from Pine Valley/Gowanda. The final two spots were taken by Cattaraugus Little Valley’s Evelyn Janola and Franklinville’s Olivia Frank.
The overall team sportsmanship award went to Portville, while the Panthers’ individual award went to Natalie Reynolds.
