South Korean automotive giant Kia Motors yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with local partner Meghna Automobiles to start automotive technology training in Bangladesh.
Meghna Automobiles officials said the training will be beneficial for Bangladeshi automotive engineers and technicians as the country’s automotive industry is facing a shortage of trained manpower.
Kausa Masudur Rahman, deputy general manager of Meghna Automobiles, told Business Standard that the two groups will set up an automotive technical training institute in Bangladesh before the local Kia assembly plant begins commercial production early next year. He said he plans to build it.
To facilitate comprehensive training, Kia Motors donated one vehicle of each vehicle assembled in Bangladesh to the training institute, along with a complete set of training equipment and its virtual reality technology.
Meghna officials said the planned institute aims to significantly improve automotive technology in Bangladesh and will work closely with local engineering colleges.
Meghna Motors already has a group of Kia-trained engineers who are contributing to the training of regional trainers, and Kia’s regional team looks forward to the company contributing further to training in the region. It has been stated that.
According to Meghna Automobiles, which acts as a distributor for Kia vehicles in Bangladesh, Kia Motors is also open to the possibility of conducting training sessions in Bangladesh if Meghna Automobiles decides to request it. He continues to be positive.
Korean Embassy First Secretary Yang Min-seo, Meghna Motors Director Rashikul Rahman Mahin, Kia Motors Ownership Business Group Head DH Hwang, and Managing Director of state-run car assembler Pragati Industries Limited, Abul. The signing ceremony was attended by Kalam Azad, former Member of Parliament Akhtaruzzaman, Kia APAC Regional Vice President Dato’ Samson Anand George, Coordinator Jay Park, and Kia Motors Headquarters Senior Manager Alex Kim.
Earlier this year, another South Korean car giant, Hyundai, started painting and assembling its cars locally at its high-tech park in Ghazipur using homegrown fair technology. Local factories are accelerating sales of Hyundai cars in Bangladesh as the Bangladeshi government reduces customs duties and taxes on locally produced vehicles.
