A commotion broke out in Week 10 of college football. From Oklahoma State’s win in the final game of Bedlam, to Mississippi State’s narrow win at home against Texas A&M, to the penalty shootout at Southern California, to Kansas State’s head-scratching decision in OT, Saturday was the nation’s top game. It was full of drama and consequences for many of the 25.
Week 11 is no different.
Saturday’s headliner is Michigan @Penn State. The Nittany Lions are actually in control of their own destiny in the Big Ten. If this was a game at the Big House, bettors would be all in on the Wolverines, but since it’s a James Franklin home game, the line has dropped from 7.0 to 4.5.
Elsewhere, Michael Penix Jr. continues his campaign for the Heisman and the national championship as Washington hosts Utah State. Anything short of a win spells doom for Penix and the Huskies.
Will this be the week Georgia finally has to sweat it out in the Big Four?th quarter? Bulldogs host Ole Miss. A Rebels win would not only drastically upset the playoff picture, but also keep the team in line for a New Year’s Day bowl berth.
On Saturday night, Caleb Williams and USC will visit Bo Nix and Oregon State in an attempt to revive, or at least spoil, their season.
As is customary, the turmoil from last weekend led to some big moves in the NBC Sports Top 25.

Dalzell (@VmoneySports): I predict the Washington Huskies will fall off this list within the next two weeks. Washington faces No. 13 Utah, No. 11 Oregon State and in-state rivals to finish the regular season before a likely rematch with No. 6 Oregon State in the Pac-12 Championship. They have to play and win Washington State to end the regular season. The Huskies have the toughest path to the CFB playoffs of any team in the country.
Floton (@CFFloton): There was no change in the top of the NBC Sports Top 25, with No. 1 Georgia State picking up the weekend’s most impressive win over No. 17 (then No. 12) Missouri. The CFP committee has Ohio State at the top, but considering QB Carson Beck’s performance and the vaunted UGA defense, they will continue to ride the reigning national champions as the No. 1 seed until they lose. Washington took charge against USC, moving the Trojans out of the top 25 for the first time in coach Lincoln Riley’s era.

Dalzell: My two favorite teams to rally and make the CFB playoffs are #6 Oregon State and #7 Alabama. The tide is turning in the SEC right now, and the Ducks haven’t come close to losing since losing against Washington. I believe both teams will win the regular season and have a chance to be the 3rd and 4th place teams in the CFB playoffs.
Floton: I have Alabama at No. 6, just ahead of Oregon, which has had a great run since losing a close decision to Washington. But with Alabama QB Jalen Milroe growing into the role week by week and a solid win over LSU, the path to the SEC West title is now clear. Texas’ argument is understandable considering Texas already won against the Tide in Week 2, but Alabama could ultimately beat Texas after growing its youthful roster throughout the season. I think it will be. Vaughn and I will be at Penn State vs. Michigan State this weekend, which will be a pivotal test for the Wolverines and a great opportunity for the Nittany Lions.

Dalzell: What about the Big 12? Kansas State and Oklahoma State are moving up in the standings heading into Texas, but Oklahoma and Kansas State are out of contention for the Big 12 Conference championship with losses. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are the best bet to win the Big 12 with regular season games remaining against UCF, Houston and BYU.
Floton: Kudos to Oklahoma State for pulling off the upset of Oklahoma in its final game in Bedlam and clearly claiming the No. 16 spot in this week’s poll. Despite Cade Klubnik wearing a walking boot all week and RB Will Shipley and WR Antonio Williams missing completely, Notre Dame’s loss to Clemson was disappointing. I can’t do it. I can’t say enough about the job Arizona coach Jed Fisch has done with the program after the ill-fated Kevin Sumlin administration. With a convincing win over UCLA, the Wildcats are gaining momentum heading into this week’s game at Colorado.
