Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair his torn ACL once swelling subsides in the coming weeks, discussed the injury with reporters for the first time from the team’s facility on Wednesday.
Jones’ season ended early last Sunday in a road game against the Raiders. Jones said his right knee felt “like it was going to buckle in a different way” on the final play of the first quarter, but he felt he was well enough to remain in the game. He felt the same thing would happen on the next play, which would be his last until the 2024 season.
The contract Jones signed with the Giants this offseason all but guarantees he will return to the team, which Jones said is “something a lot of guys have been through.” [torn ACL rehab] And come back really healthy. ”
“It’s definitely tough,” Jones said, via Darryl Slater of New Jersey.com. “You put in a lot. Get ready to play. And it’s definitely hard to have that taken away by an injury. It’s a reality and something you have to deal with as a player. But I can’t afford to feel sorry for myself or feel sorry for myself. And I’m fine. I will get back on my feet, approach the rehab process like anything else, and come back stronger. ”
The Giants are 2-7 and it’s very hard to see any reason to expect many wins in the second half, so the team could pick very early in the first round in April. That choice could impact Jones’ future with the club beyond next season, but the rookie quarterback could join the Giants as his NFL future depends on his full recovery from a torn ACL. Sex should not be the most important thing to Jones. now.
