Texans quarterback CJ Stroud set a rookie record by throwing for 470 yards against the Buccaneers last Sunday, was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, and has many other accolades to his credit. However, not everyone praised Stroud’s performance.
Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis is near the top of the list of people who weren’t thrilled to see Stroud throw five touchdowns in Houston’s 39-37 win. Davis lost by three of those scores, including the game-winning goal by Tank Dell with six seconds left.
Davis called this “the worst thing that could happen to any corner,” and also responded to former Buccaneers Ronde Barber’s comments that Davis and his teammates looked like the worst secondary in the league.
“as if nightmare becomes reality” Davis said via Rick Stroud. tampa bay times. “So anything negative about our performance; [Barber’s] Probably right. We watched the movie together and felt very bad. It was also terrible to watch. It’s like I didn’t want to see it. I wanted to close my eyes. But that’s part of life and it happened. You have to admit that, and we’re not going to shy away from what happened. ”
Davis said he knows he has to be better and will get a chance to prove himself this Sunday against the Titans.
