Oklahoma State acquired the eighth member of its 2025 class with Wagoner edge rusher Alexander Shieldnight committing Friday night.
The Shield Knight chose the Sooners over the likes of Arkansas and Tennessee. Six of the Sooners’ eight players in the 2025 class are from Oklahoma.
On3Sports’ industry rankings list Shieldnight as a three-star recruit and No. 10 overall in the state. Nationally, he ranks 33rd among edge rushers in the 2020 class.
OU initially offered him a shield night on Dec. 19, 2022, and he took three unofficial visits to Norman. He also took one unofficial visit to Kansas State and Texas Tech each, earning nine offers.
Shieldnight is Oklahoma State’s first edge rusher commit in the 2025 class. OU has acquired commitments from three edge rushers in the 2024 class, including three-stars Wyatt Gilmore and Bergin Kiser and four-star Danny Okoye.
Wagoner will face Broken Bow on Friday in the first round of the Class 4A Oklahoma High School Football Playoffs. Shield Knight is the latest addition to defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis’ room and will be a key position to add when the Sooners join the SEC next season.
