Marshe Laurie “Rudy” “Mash” “Sissy” Burns, 28, of Altoona, made a grand entrance into this world with her twin brother, Mante. She was born and raised in Altoona, the daughter of Lona Burns and Carl Brevard.
Marshe was no ordinary Joe and loved playing with men and playing sports. She was a star athlete in baseball, basketball, softball and rugby. Mash was also an avid Steelers fan. Every Sunday you can find her in her badass towel and black and yellow jersey.
She attended Slippery Rock University and studied English with hopes of pursuing a teaching career.
You can see that Rudy is always smiling. She was a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, a feminist, but most importantly a free spirit. Marche refused to bow to the boundaries set by society. She instead lived her life according to her own rules and standards.
Marshe was dearly loved and will be missed by her mother. her father; her brother Mante Barnes; a sister, Carlona Brevard; her grandmother, Carol Brevard; and various uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Homers Gap Civic Association today, Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
