Yesterday, Bahrain’s Al Najma Club lost 24-27 to Saudi Arabia’s Khaleej Club in the prestigious IHF Men’s Super Globe currently being held in Dammam.
For Bahrain, this was the first match in the ranks 5th to 8th.
They will face Kuwait SC for seventh place overall today at 1:15pm Bahrain time, completing the 12-club competition.
Yesterday, Kuwait lost to Egypt’s Al Ahly 25-35.
Najma was behind 10-14 at the half against Khaleej, but never recovered and outscored her opponent in the final 30 minutes.
However, their efforts did not bear fruit, and in the end they suffered a crushing defeat.
Mohamed Habib Ahmed was the top scorer with seven goals, followed by Mahdi Saad with five and Belal Basham and Hassan Madan with three each.
Mujtaba Al Salem scored five goals for Khaleej, while Shinnosuke Takuta scored four goals.
This will be Najma’s second appearance at the IHF Super Globe, following her 7th place finish in 2018.
They will be hoping to achieve that result with a win today.
This year marks the 16th time this world championship, hosted by the International Handball Federation (IHF), will be held. Najma is the only participant from Bahrain.
