Warren — Robert “Bob” Bender Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his son and daughter-in-law.
Bob was born July 9, 1939 in Warren to the late John and Ida Bender.
He attended Warren G. Harding High School and dropped out to join the Army Reserve.
After returning home, Bob married Elaine Crum on February 4, 1961. The following year, Bob became his father and their daughter, Kirsten, was born. Years later, his son, Robert Jr. “Rob” born. Shortly thereafter, they built a family home in Champion, where they lived for many years.
Bob enjoyed working in retail and met many people during his career. Bob works at Turnies, Handyman, and DIY, so he always attracted attention when he was out and about. For Bob, there were few things he enjoyed more than creating, rebuilding, and repairing things he found or that others found for him. He and his wife then moved to Howland, where Bob continued tinkering outside and in the shed. He just enjoyed sitting on the porch, listening to country music and waving to passersby.
Bob leaves to cherish his memories and wife Elaine; children, Kirsten Harford (Ray Garretson) and Robert Jr. (Melissa) Bender; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jack;

Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel and Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.
