Ann Marie (Gelsing) Goetz of Rugby, North Dakota passed away on November 7, 2023 in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Parkway Funeral Home, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
Anne was born to Edwin and Ruth (Sand) Gersing in rugby. She graduated from Rugby High School in 1952. She Anne married Anton. “Tony” Goetz, May 30, 1953.
Ann worked at Lien’s Jewelry from 1969 to 1974. She raised her four children and devoted her life to helping her husband on their farm near Sylva, North Dakota, until they retired and moved to rugby in 1994. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Heart of America Library, and she and Tony were members of the Eagles Club. Anne also volunteered at the hospital, making crafts and lefsa.
She loved sewing, quilting, embroidery, crafts, reading, puzzles, gardening, playing cards with friends, and spending time with her family. She loved working with her family’s genealogy and created several books of her family history and sent them to her relatives. Ann was an excellent cook and loved to cook for her family and friends. She passed on many recipes to her children.
Ann is survived by her children, David (Nancy) Getz of Laughlin, NV, Douglas (Darlene) Getz of Rugby, North Dakota, Ruth (Bill) Walter of Carsey, Colorado, and Leanne (Wayne) Getz of Bozeman, Montana; are left behind. his sister, Judy Larkin, Colfax, Wash.; brother, Larry (Marlene) Jersing of Kennewick, Wash.; 14 grandchildren. five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ruth Gelsing; her sister Mardel Knudson; brother-in-law, Sten Larkin; Her husband is Tony Getz. and her grandson, Sean Hasselstrom.
