usc guard Boogie Ellis He has been named to the five-player Sporting News Preseason All-America Team, it was announced today (Nov. 13) in an online publication.
Ellis is a Sporting News Preseason All-America, along with Purdue center Zach Eady, Duke forward Kyle Filipovski, Gonzaga forward Graham Icke and Marquette guard Tyler Kolek. is joining the team.
Through USC’s first two games of the season, Ellis averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals. His second-year team captain will be at home against Kansas State for the 2023 Elite Eight team in Las Vegas (82-69) on Nov. 6, and at home against CSU Bakersfield (85-59) on Nov. 9. He led USC to an opening week victory.
Ellis, a fifth-year guard, led USC in averaging 17.7 points per game last season and was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team for the 2022-23 season. Ellis ranked fourth in the league in scoring and tied for first in 3-pointers made with 83. Ellis totaled 583 points, ranking 10th all-time in a single season at USC. Ellis also made 80.5 percent of his free throws and a team-leading 120 shots from the charity stripe.
