Clark averaged 18.5 points per game on 15-of-19 shooting from the floor and 9.0 rebounds per game, leading Stony Brook to a 2-0 week. On Monday, the graduate transfer recorded a double-double in her SeaWolf debut, scoring a career-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbing a team-leading 10 rebounds. Clark added three assists, three steals and one block as Stony Brook defeated Columbia 85-73 in the season opener. On Saturday, she eclipsed her career high in points for the second time in a game with 19 points, 9-of-10 shooting from the floor and eight rebounds in an 81-63 win at Le Moine.
Rookie of the week
Darionna Howard, Delaware
Freshman | Fu | Smithfield, North Carolina/Clayton
Howard recorded a double-double in his collegiate debut, helping the University of Delaware to a season-opening victory over Longwood. The freshman forward had 13 points, shot 62.5 percent from the floor (5-8) and grabbed 12 rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench. Additionally, Howard had three steals and two assists as the Blue Hens defeated the Lancers 81-55.

News and notes:
New York state of mind: The CAA team started the year 4-0 against teams from New York State, including two wins against postseason teams from a year ago. Stony Brook defeated Columbia 85-73 in the opening game. Columbia was the Ivy League regular season champion last season and advanced to the WNIT Championship Game for the second consecutive postseason appearance. Additionally, Monmouth defeated St. John’s 74-69 in its home opener. The Red Storm advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season as the at-large out of the Big East.
Maintain 100 points: Campbell, Charleston and North Carolina A&T all reached triple digits in Week 1 of the 2023-24 season. Charleston scored a program-record 117 points in its season-opening victory over Pfeiffer. This mark is the second-highest single-game point total in CAA women’s basketball history. North Carolina A&T defeated Guilford 114-41 in the home opener, marking the fifth time the Aggies have topped 100 points under head coach Tarrell Robinson. In the end, Campbell scored 108 points in her first game as a CAA member, defeating NC Wesleyan.
Home is where the heart is: The CAA teams got off to a strong start on their own last week, posting a combined 10-5 record among league members at home. The 10 wins came from different teams, all of which came in the home opener.

One thing every team in #CAAHoops should know
Campbell: Christabel Ezuma averaged 13.7 points per game on 72.0 percent shooting (18-25) and 7.7 rebounds per game in Week 2-1 for Campbell. Ezma scored in double figures in all three games, recording a double-double (14p, 11r) against UVA.
Charleston: The Cougars’ 117 points in the season opener is a program record and the second-highest single-game point total in CAA women’s basketball history.
Delaware: Chloe Wilson shined in her Blue Hen debut, recording a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, leading Delaware State to its opening four-game winning streak.
Drexel: Momo LaClair led the Dragons to a win over Delaware State. The junior scored a career-best 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor and added a career-high seven rebounds.
Elon: Freshman Maraja Pass scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe against Gardner-Webb, leading Phoenix to its first win of the season.
Hampton: Kamryn Hill paced Hampton with 20 points in the season opener, knocking down three from behind the arc.
Hofstra: Ziheima Swint cleaned up his game last week, averaging 14.0 rebounds per game. The senior center had a career-high 21 boards in the win, the highest single-game total in the NCAA this season.
Monmouth: With a home opener win over St. John’s, Monmouth defeated a Big East team for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
North Carolina A&T: Seven Aggies scored in double figures in A&T’s 114-41 win over Guilford College. Demire Tucker led the way with a career-best 23 points.
UNCW: Head coach Nicole Woods earned her first career win against The Apprentice School as Evan Miller scored a career-high 16 points in a 78-42 victory.
Northeast: Dejah Bristol had a career-high 16 rebounds in the season opener, Asha Parker scored a career-best 18 points in Game 2, and the Huskies ended the Priscilla Edwards-Lloyd era with a 2-0 record. I opened it.
Stony Brook: Cali Clark set a career high in points in the Seawolves’ winning streak. His graduate transfer had a double-double (18:10) against Columbia and 19 points and eight rebounds against Le Moyne.
Towson: Five Tigers scored in double figures in Towson’s season-opening victory over UMBC, led by Alexia Nelson’s 15 points.
William and Mary: Nyla Young scored more than 20 points in each of her first three games for the Tribe, including 29 points in the season opener. The graduate transfer averaged 26.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game that week.
