David Wick, 47, Minot, passed away on November 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep dedication to his family and community.
David was born May 11, 1976 in Minot to parents Carlos and Esther (Cossette) Wick. His childhood was spent in Minot Public Schools and then Bishop Ryan High School where he graduated as his 1994 valedictorian. While in school, David spent a lot of time on his court playing basketball until his senior year of high school. . The highlight of David’s basketball career occurred during his senior year when his Bishop Ryan Lions won the Class B state championship in 1994.
On August 15, 1997, David married the love of his life, Kristen Crowley. Later, they expanded their family with the birth of their children Corbin, Madelene, Owen and Maxwell. They have always been the center of David’s life. In addition to the children, his family pets Daisy, Finley, and Arthas also brought joy and comfort to David.
David spent 16 years of his professional life working in the Choice Hotels call center and serving as a manager at various locations before moving into hotel management in Minot. He then contributed his skills and dedication to his JM Test Systems and most recently as manager to High Air Ground. His commitment to excellence has earned him numerous awards throughout his career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a devoted family man. He took great pleasure in coaching his children’s recreational, school and travel basketball teams. David loved all of his players and treated each one of them as if they were his own.His dedication to youth extends beyond his basketball court, and in 2011 he “PTA friends” Awarded by McKinley School.
David’s passion for sports extended into his adult life, playing amateur basketball until 2000. After his playing days, UNC continued his passion for sports by following his favorite teams such as the Tar Heels, Minnesota his Vikings, San Francisco his Spurs, and Las Vegas his Raiders. His competitive athleticism extended to his love of board games and videos with his children, and he always played to win.
Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, David cherished his friendship with his best friend Chris Summers above all else. Whether he was enjoying a movie, discussing a weather phenomenon, or going on a trip, David cherished every moment, no matter who he was with. David will be most remembered for his fatherly love, outgoing personality, and his ability to form bonds with anyone who crossed his path.
David was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his mother-in-law Sharon Crowley and his numerous aunts and uncles.
David is survived by his loving wife Kristen; children, Corbin Chamberlain, Madelene Rose, Owen Jackson and Maxwell Harrison Wick; siblings, Dennis Wick, Robbie Wick and Tanya (Brock) Herstad; parents, Carlos and Esther and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred over the North Dakota Autism Center.
