The Embassy of India in Bahrain held the second Indian University and India Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Alumni Meeting on Thursday.
The event was attended by senior Bahraini officials, including Abdulnabi Alshoala, former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and founder of the Bahrain-India Association, Dr. Mariam Al-Dhan, Member of Parliament, and Dr. Abdulhassan Al-Dairi, Chairman . The event also promoted Study in India, a flagship project introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to promote India as a leading higher education hub for international and NRI students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdulnabi Alshoala and Dr. Abdulhassan Al Daili, distinguished alumni of Indian universities, highlighted the deep historical ties between India and Bahrain in the field of education and India as an educational destination. In his address, Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob highlighted the benefits of studying in India and ITEC courses in developing the capacity of Bahrainis.
In November, two education fairs will be held in Bahrain to promote the India Study Abroad initiative. The first fair was organized by Tides Global in partnership with Bahrain’s Unigrad and was opened by Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob on 16 November.
ITEC alumni Mr. Khaled Al Anzi, Specialist at the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration, and Mr. Ali Abdulla, Senior Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Industry, shared their experiences of visiting India under the ITEC program. ITEC is the premier capacity development platform of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Founded in 1964, ITEC is one of the oldest institutionalized arrangements for international capacity development, having trained more than 200,000 personnel in both the civilian and defense sectors in more than 160 countries. I did.
ITEC has offered over 2,500 courses and over 12,000 scholarships each year.
Many Bahrainis are taking advantage of short-term development programs under ITEC. During the event, tourist attractions, specialties and exquisite products of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir were highlighted.
The Embassy of India in Bahrain has launched an initiative to promote one state/union territory of India every month.
While Rajasthan gained statehood in October, this month’s featured state/UT is Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir has seen a significant increase in tourism, with more than 16.2 million tourists visiting the Union Territory in 2022, the highest since 1947.
A business delegation led by Abdul Hassan Al Dairi, Chairman of the Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Association, visited Kashmir last year and signed a memorandum of understanding with the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote trade.
