A sled hockey marathon of sorts concluded Sunday with the final game of the 13th annual USA Hockey Sled Classic held at AdventHealth Center Ice in Wesley Chapel. The four-day event featured 30 sled hockey teams affiliated with NHL clubs and dozens of games of varying skill levels.
The activity was highlighted by a “Free Thread Hockey Try” event on Saturday afternoon. At the free clinic, he introduced 20 participants to an adaptation of ice hockey for athletes whose disabilities prevent them from playing traditional hockey. Among the instructors at the clinic was Lightning sled hockey veteran Monica Quimby, a member of the U.S. Women’s Development Team.
