Batelco (Bahrain Telecommunications Company) on Monday announced the launch of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), paving the way for a more efficient Internet experience for its customers. The telco said the upgrade from IPv4 is an important step in meeting the continuously growing demand for the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital products.

Batelco noted that as the world becomes increasingly connected, the limited availability of IPv4 addresses could impact future technological expansion. Developed in the early 1980s, his IPv4 allows for a total of approximately 4 billion unique IP addresses worldwide.
