HELENA — On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the Helena Area Sports Association held its final group stakeholder meeting regarding the proposed multi-sport complex.
“We’ll be able to host concerts, large-scale venue concerts, sporting events, basketball tournaments and more,” said Ben Tintinger, principal at Mosaic Architecture.
HRSA has been working on this idea since 2015.
In the spring, they began working with the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds on potential sites for the complex.
HRSA’s vision includes an aquatics facility, hard courts, an indoor lawn, and an 80,000-square-foot arena for rodeos and concerts.
“An indoor turf field is something that many organizations around Helena are considering and would like to see happen,” Tintinger said.
The complex is not intended to compete with Helena businesses.
“This is about strengthening our community and helping develop our youth,” Tintinger said.
Helena is currently the only AA high school community in Montana without a competitive pool.
The ARC could also allow Helena to host state tournaments in sports such as basketball and volleyball.
ARCs can also provide a great space for community recreation and safety lessons.
“Drowning is the number one cause of death for children under 4 years of age. It is very important for children to respect water, love water, and learn how to be aquatic problem solvers,” says Toddler Swimming. said Resource Instructor Macy Page.
Lewis and Clark County commissioners are expected to approve putting the funding measure on voters’ ballots.
