His Highness Sheikh Khalid praised the success of the 3rd Bahrain Schools Chess Championship, which was attended by a large number of students.
He added that the success of the tournament reflected the efforts of the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Bahrain Mind Games Federation and the Bahrain Chess Club.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid aims to enhance students’ mental skills and thinking ability, promote their abilities in sports competitions, and instill values such as dedication, cooperation, and fair competition, while at the same time developing social communication skills among students. He emphasized the role of mind-strengthening sports, especially chess.
His Royal Highness called for continued efforts to organize chess tournaments, highlighting its popularity and ability to inspire the spirit of challenge and competition.
He emphasized the tournament’s role in discovering talent and pledged to support national chess teams in overseas forums.
He thanked the event for its efforts and congratulated the first place winners and students on their success. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education; Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority. The event was also attended by Bahrain Chess Club President Dr. Khalid Burhan.
The Minister thanked His Royal Highness for his patronage at the closing ceremony of the Games and expressed his gratitude for his support of youth sports competitions and school sports events in Bahrain.
He said that Bahrain is committed to promoting youth and development as part of the development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and followed up by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He expressed pride in the high level of support he provides to the sports field. .
The Prime Minister also welcomed His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in supporting the development of youth and sports. He also mentioned his role.
The Minister highlighted the success of the Bahrain Chess Schools Tournament, which saw the participation of more than 4,000 students from public and private schools in its first edition.
The second event attracted over 5,000 participants.
The ministry will work with Mind Sports organizations to promote the tournament and encourage more participation.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa presented awards to the tournament winners. A commemorative gift was presented to His Imperial Highness by the Minister of Education.
