Maine has won four straight after losing their first two games.
Schakel’s 3-pointer gave Maine a 110-108 lead. DJ Steward, who also finished with 23 points, added a free throw with one second left.
J.D. Davison (15 points), Jordan Walsh (14 points), Niemias Keta (11 points) and Nathan Knight (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Celtics.

European tour: South Africa’s Nikhil Lama shot an eight-under 62 in the second round in Johannesburg to move to the top of the Joburg Open leaderboard.
Lama, ranked 1,214th, had one eagle and six birdies in his 10th European Tour event. He finished with a total of 13 under par and 127, one stroke behind fellow South African Thriston Lawrence.
Australian PGA: Cam Smith posted a 9-over 78 in the second round in Brisbane, Australia, leaving him 21 strokes behind leader Min Woo Lee and missing out on a spot to defend his title.
Lee shot a 5-under 66, making him 12 under. Adam Scott, who shot a 65 in the second round, was runner-up at 11 under par.

The England forward has scored 18 goals in 12 league games, putting pressure on Bayer Leverkusen who started the season at the top of the table, but could regain the top spot if they beat Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Champions League: Marcus Rashford will miss next week’s match against Manchester United at Galatasaray after UEFA confirmed his one-match suspension.
Rashford was sent off for “rough play” after challenging Elias Gellert during United’s 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen earlier this month.
United are at the bottom of Group A and will be eliminated if they lose to Galatasaray.

Hodges dies: Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz announced that catcher Ron Hodges, who spent his entire 12-season major league career with the New York Mets, passed away Friday after a short illness.
Hodges was 74 years old.
He had a batting average of .240 with 19 home runs and 147 RBIs from 1973 to 1984.
