Last night, defending champions Al Khaldiya were held to a 1-1 draw by Hidd in the 2023/2024 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League Week 7 match.
Dominique Mendy scored the goal for Kardija, while Jacques Medina Iemopele scored the goal for Hid. Both goals were scored in the first half.
Caldija took the lead in the 12th minute when Mendy headed home a corner kick from teammate Mahdi Humaidan.
Mendy rose above the Hid defense and slotted the ball into the net from close range. Hid tied the game with a penalty kick in the 33rd minute.
Hid’s Obsu Prince Agre was brought down by Ali Abdullah in the box and won the spot-kick. Iemopele did not miss the penalty and Khaldiya goalkeeper Mohamed Al Gharabi dived in the wrong direction.
Mahdi Abduljabar scored a goal just before half-time, but it was ruled out for offside.
Despite the best efforts of both teams, they were unable to score after the break, even after eight minutes of second-half stoppage time.
With the result, Hardiya increased their lead to 13 points following their fourth draw in seven matches.
They are tied for first place in the league with East Rifa on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Hid recorded their first draw and moved up to seven points in the bottom half of the table.
Meanwhile, Muharraq defeated Al Hara 2-1 in another league match last night.
Muharraq took the lead in the 43rd minute when Sufjan Lamela received a short pass from the right side of the box and scored from close range.
Jara equalized in the 76th minute when Daniel Asante took advantage of Muharraq’s defense and fired in a shot from inside the area, but a penalty was awarded in the 86th minute and the winners managed to pull through.
Ahmed Al Sherouki stepped forward to take the spot kick and fired a powerful shot into the top left corner of the goal.
Muharraq increased their points to nine points, only their second win in seven games, while Hala suffered their fourth loss and remained with a nine-point difference.
Muharraq came out on top in terms of goal difference.
