Commitment to sustainability: South African Automobile Association receives 1-star rating as part of FIA Environmental Certification Program
The Automobile Association of South Africa (AASA) has achieved its first ever one-star rating from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Environmental Certification Programme.
This rating recognizes AASA’s commitment to developing internal procedures and the strength of environmental communications within the organization.
This certification follows the introduction of significant new sustainability initiatives, including new solar panels, battery storage units and an inverter to power the association’s call centre.
AASA celebrated this award as a clear sign of progress in making offices more environmentally friendly.
Willem Groenewald, CEO of AASA, said: “We are very happy with the outcome of this certification application.Although this is a basic certification, it is a great start for us and will ensure a three-star level rating in the near future. It motivates me to go the extra mile to achieve.”
AASA is currently aiming to establish more environmental management systems in preparation for the next FIA certification.
