49ers receiver Deebo Samuel stands behind his “trash” talk.
On Monday, Samuel was asked about calling Eagles cornerback James Bradberry “trash” last season.
“I don’t regret anything ,” Samuel said, via Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Following the 49ers’ loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, Samuel appeared on the “I Am Athlete” podcast with LeSean McCoy, Brandon Marshall, and Adam “Pacman” Jones. The committee asked Samuel if there were holes in the Eagles’ defense.
“Where is the hole?” said Samuel. “The back end. The D-line makes them both All-Pros. [Darius] Sorey, I respect Sorey.Have you seen the play Brandon? [Aiyuk] had? When playing the game for the second time, [Brock] Is Purdy injured? Goodbye, that’s all. . . ”
McCoy asked specifically about Bradbury, which prompted a “trash” response from Samuel.
Samuel trolled Bradberry on social media after Bradberry was called for a defensive holding penalty with 1:54 left on third down in Super Bowl LVII, setting up Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal.
“Trust me now,” Samuel wrote, along with several emojis.
Samuel will meet Bradberry for the first time since Sunday’s NFC Championship Game between the 49ers and Eagles.
Samuel said, “I don’t have any feelings right now. Let’s wait and see.” “It’s not about revenge. This is another game on the schedule and we’re going to treat it like any other game.”
