Allyson Felix is one of 32 athletes seeking election to the International Olympic Committee Athletes Commission, which normally involves membership in the IOC.
Felix, an 11-time Olympic medalist, retired last year at the age of 36. and 31 other candidates The committee will consist of a maximum of 23 members (12 elected and a maximum of 11 appointed) for a term of eight years.
Felix has already joined the committee as an appointed member, joining four days after his last race at the 2022 World Championship.
Voting for the newly elected members will be done by athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Other candidates include current Olympic champion golfer Inbee Park (South Korea), BMX racer Mariana Pajon (Colombia) and canoeist Jessica Fox (Australia).
The last American to serve on the committee was 2018 cross-country skiing gold medalist Kikkan Randall, who resigned in 2021.
Current athletes committee members include retired star players Pau Gasol (Spain, basketball), Elena Isinbayeva (Russia, track and field, term ends next year), and Federica Pellegrini (Italy, swimming).
This committee is represented at all levels of IOC decision-making and acts as a bridge between the IOC and active athletes.
There are currently 107 IOC members (and some emeritus members), including Americans Anita DeFrantz and David Hagerty.
