It took decades for Warren native Kit Sekelski to appear on Jeopardy. first time.
She made the most of the opportunity, winning three matches and earning approximately $40,000 in an episode that aired in June 2021.
It will probably take about two years before I try again.
Sekelski, who currently lives in Kent, Ohio and works as a freelance graphic designer, returned for two episodes that aired earlier this month as part of the Second Chance Competition.
The Second Chance Competition gave champions from the past few seasons the opportunity to qualify for this season’s Tournament of Champions.
Sekelski won the quarterfinals on Final Jeopardy and finished second in the semifinals.
After the Jeopardy round, she placed second, but dropped to third place, more than $7,000 behind the first-place contestant, and advanced to Final Jeopardy.
All three contestants failed to answer the Final Jeopardy questions, but the other two answered all of them, making Sekelski’s $5,600 enough to win.
In the episode that aired on November 22nd, a double Jeopardy question will thwart her chances of winning the semifinals.
After the Jeopardy round, Sekelski was in third place, but achieved the daily double in the early stages of Double Jeopardy.
“You don’t have to do this yet.” Sekelski said: “Then let’s make it a true daily double.”
Any clue? “James Church chose this name for his product because the Vulcan god symbol represents power.”
Sekelski went. “Firestone” The correct answer is “Arm & Hammer”
She bet $2,100 and $21 to advance to Final Jeopardy, noting that her final total would be $1,221 in palindromes.
In the first episode, she told host and Jeopardy legend Ken Jennings what she wanted to do with her winnings in 2021, explaining that a charity auction was once held in Kent.
“One of the big ticket tickets was a ride on the famous airship, so I wanted to use some of my winnings for that.” Sekelski said. “Unfortunately, that auction has not returned post-pandemic.
“If anyone in Akron would like to receive a charitable donation in exchange for a ride on the airship, I would be happy.”
“Good idea,” Jennings replied. “I’d like to ride on an airship.”
