Gabe Kapler has reportedly landed a new MLB job.
The former San Francisco Giants manager will join the Miami Marlins as assistant general manager, according to multiple reports. craig misch The Miami Herald and MLB Network first reported the news.
athletic Ken Rosenthal Kapler’s role will primarily focus on player development, but will work on all areas of the Marlins’ baseball operations.
Kapler spent four seasons in San Francisco before being fired in September. He led the team to a 295-248 record, one playoff appearance as captain, and a 78-81 record in 2023.
Kapler played 12 MLB seasons with six organizations before his time with the Giants. He retired in 2010 and returned to the dugout when he became manager of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018. He spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies before joining the Giants.
Kapler was reportedly a candidate to become director of baseball operations for the Boston Red Sox, where he spent four seasons as a player. The Red Sox ultimately hired fellow former player Craig Breslow.
