Italy and Saudi Arabia explore joint investments in auto, mining and oil sectors
Italy is in talks with Saudi Arabia about cooperative investments in various fields, including automobiles, mining, oil and gas, defense, hydrogen, and space. Minister of Industry Adolfo Urso visited and held talks with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is actively working to strengthen relations with the Gulf region. Italy and Saudi Arabia are working to establish a regulatory and industrial framework in the critical raw materials sector. The meeting in Riyadh was attended by prominent industry players, including representatives from Pirelli, Maile Tecnimont and Prysmian.
Honda announces ambitious $3.4 billion electric motorcycle plan
Honda, the major Japanese automaker, plans to invest 500 billion yen ($3.4 billion) in the production of electric and moped motorcycles. They aim to introduce 30 new electric models by 2030 and reduce the cost of electric bikes by 50 percent. Honda will invest an additional 100 billion yen from 2021 to 2025 and 400 billion yen from 2026 to 2030 in the electrification of motorcycles, raising its global sales target for 2030 to 4 million units. The global electric motorcycle market, valued at $30 billion in 2022, is expected to grow nearly 19% annually from 2023 to 2030, driven by fuel costs and concerns about climate change.
