Al Ahly and Al Hara achieved a narrow victory last night in the 8th week match of the 2023/2024 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League. Ahly beat Hid 1-0 to move to the top of the league table, while Hara defeated much-anticipated East Rifa with the same 1-0 scoreline.
Hasan Madan scored the winning goal just before the half-time whistle in Ahli’s hard-won victory. Madan scored for Ahly in the 42nd minute, assisting teammate Gustavo dos Santos Cabral with a great through ball on the right.
Madan confidently charged toward the goal and scored from a sharp angle past Hid goalkeeper Ali Khalifa Abdullah. Hid made a valiant attempt to equalize, but Ahly did enough to earn the three points and Madan’s goal proved to be enough to separate the teams.
Ahly achieved their fourth win in eight games and moved to the top of the league with 14 points. Hid suffered their fifth loss and remained at the bottom of the rankings with seven points.
Meanwhile, in Jara’s victory, Daniel Asante scored the only goal of the match with a penalty in the second half. Jara was awarded the spot kick after Francisco Nelson Simbine was brought down by East Rifa goalkeeper Eyad Nasser Salem inside the box.
In the 54th minute, Asante came forward and took a shot, making no mistake as it slotted into the bottom left corner of the goal. Hala goalkeeper Godwill Chia Ndang played a key role in his team’s victory in the closing stages, but East Rifa were also unlucky, going wide in the closing stages as they tried to equalize.
As a result, Hara suffered four losses and achieved their fourth win in eight games, increasing their points to 12. On the other hand, East Rifa, who were tied at the top of the league in terms of points, suffered their third loss and were left with 13 points.
League action continues tonight with two further matches scheduled to be played as scheduled, both scheduled to kick off at 7pm at separate venues. Sitra will face Al Shabaab in one match, while the other will be a huge clash between defending champions Al Qaldiyya and top contender Rifa. Both games tonight conclude week eight of league play.
