Judith R. “Judy” Saylor, 90, passed away in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.
She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Frances and Louis Burrows.
Surviving are her brother David; her children: Amy, Eric (Lynette), Bruce (Phyllis), Michael (Sharon); 11 grandchildren. eight great-grandchildren; and her faithful caregiver, Tasha Jones.
Judy’s childhood was filled with piano, sleigh rides, and reading. After he graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1951, he moved to Pittsburgh where he served as an executive secretary at the US Steel Corporation. In 1971 she moved to Virginia, first working at the Chrysler Museum, then she began her successful real estate career in Virginia Beach and Hampton. Her detail-oriented and perfectionist personality fueled her passion for taking care of her real estate clients and earned her her spot as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table over the years.
An avid reader, Judy loved reading to children at school and church. She also enjoyed playing the piano, attending the symphony orchestra and opera, watching movies, reading books, cooking, and doing puzzles. Committed to serving others, she was an active member of the Rotary Club of Hampton Roads and a board member of Young Audiences Arts for Learning.
Judy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She looked forward to her Thanksgiving each year, celebrating with her entire family at her vacation home on the Juniata River in Newton Hamilton. To her family and community, Judy was an inspiration. She encouraged others to “make today a great day” and often reminded them that “God has taken good care of you.”
Per Judy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will plan a celebration of life with further information.
