My lord. His Excellency Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, delivered the keynote address at the 15th Annual Conference of the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Bahrain Chapter, held in Bahrain yesterday.
He said that the theme of the conference ‘ABOVE & BEYOND’ represents the self-confidence of Indians today. He said the famous pearls of Bahrain and spices of India have kept the two countries connected for thousands of years.
Mr. Goyal was reminded of his recent stopover in Bahrain when Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob briefed him about the Srinath Temple in Manama. The temple was a testament to the long-standing friendship between India and Bahrain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bahrain in 2019 and receiving the Order of Bahrain First Class from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa marked a major milestone in bilateral relations. Later, Saudi Arabia supported India during the COVID-19 pandemic by supplying liquid medical oxygen.
Goyal said recently released data for the second quarter (July-September 2023) showed that the Indian economy grew by 7.6%. He urged Bahrain to benefit by strengthening engagement with India in areas such as trade, commerce, investment, health, agriculture, food and food processing, supply chain and logistics, ICT and fintech, and quality education. I encouraged them to get it.
Both countries can coordinate their respective long-term economic plans, namely Bahrain Vision 2030 and Vikshit Bharat@2047. Bahrain Women’s Day In his address, Ambassador Jacob wished all Bahraini women a happy Bahrain Women’s Day and asked for their support in promoting friendly relations between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain. He said relations between India and Bahrain are strong.
