The 2023 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Final (RMCGF) kicked off yesterday on the Bahrain International Karting Circuit course, with Bahrain’s Luca Houghton topping the even timesheets in the Junior MAX class non-qualifying practice (NQP). (BIKC) Located in Sakhir.
Luca’s best lap was 55.141 seconds, beating France’s Tom Dusol by 0.008 seconds, followed by Mika van de Paveer. After the checkered flag, 32 drivers lined up with a difference of 0.864 seconds, with the final two representing Japan and France rounding out the top five.
Timo Jungle set the fastest time at the beginning of Odds’ Junior MAX session and was one of the few drivers to break the 55 second barrier with a time of 54.860 seconds, ahead of Kenzo Craigie who was only 0.071 seconds behind. He led England to a one-two. it’s slow.
Meanwhile, Denmark’s Knud Nielsen set the fastest time in the opening NQP of the E20 senior category. Nielsen’s best lap was 55.970 seconds, 0.399 seconds ahead of Germany’s Mats-Johan Oberhof, but Marius Ljager-Rose finished in the top three a further 0.007 seconds behind.
The top six racers took part in a close race, with Bahrain’s Lewis Smith finishing the race 0.540 seconds behind. At the E20 Masters, Brazil’s Joao Gonçalves set the fastest time in the opening session with a lap time of 57.570 seconds. The Micro MAX team took the lead on BIKC’s opening venture to his 1.414km circuit, with Oliver Spencer clocking his 1:01.936 seconds and Emerson McAndrew-Ulen the fastest time on the course ( It came out in 1 minute 02 seconds 157).
In the Mini MAX first odds NQP, Canada’s Jiri Tristan Klisan topped the timesheets with a best effort lap time of 59.359 seconds, closely followed by Lithuania’s Majus Matsinas (59.439 seconds). In the Senior MAX, in the first NQP session of the day, Belgium’s Kai Lillerz took the lead with a fastest lap of 53.859 seconds, ahead of Japan’s Kenta Kumagai (53.912 seconds) and France’s Adam Lahari followed. Kuwait’s Fahad Al-Hard secured third place with 54.193 points.
