Strong progress highlighted at World Automotive Mobility and Tourism Council’s final meeting of the year
The World Automotive Mobility and Tourism Council today held an informative and constructive session at the FIA General Assembly to review the progress made over the past year.
At the beginning of the meeting, FIA President Mohamed Ben Sulayem thanked all participants for their support before and during the FIA’s participation in COP28. “It is a great honor to carry our sustainability message and the voices of our members at such an important global conference,” he said.
He also praised the work of the FIA representatives at COP28, saying: “Clubs will be taking part in an exclusive event with Ian Jack, Chair of the CAA’s Mobility Policy Committee, in particular to create a greener future.”
Tim Sharman, FIA Vice President Automotive Mobility and Tourism, also addressed World Council members and added: We continue to make strong progress financially and benefit from strong levels of engagement and interaction by members across the region. ”
During the meeting, WCAMT members also heard an update on the FIA’s transformation strategy from CEO Natalie Robin and an overview of the FIA’s global mobility activities from Jacob Vansgaard, FIA Director General for Automotive Mobility and Tourism.
Mr Bangsgaard also highlighted the numerous activities carried out by FIA members across the four mobility regions over the last year, in strengthening the FIA’s role as a global voice for safe, sustainable and accessible mobility. He expressed his gratitude for the support.
A report on the Mobility Advocacy Strategy Action Plan, which sets out the FIA’s strategy to tackle road safety, advance research projects and promote a just transition to sustainability, was also published.
Member Services highlighted the strong progress of One Road, the FIA-led global B2B loyalty program for mobility clubs. The program was recognized as a powerful tool that can increase business opportunities for members and bring more value to them.
In the tourism sector, the success of the International Driving License Information website, which is expected to receive 1.2 million visitors by the end of the year, and the historic sales of Carnet de Passage en Douin, up from 20% in comparison The focus was on that. Until 2022.
WCAMT then heard reports from the FIA Mobility Policy Committee, the FIA Mobility Services Committee and the Customs Council. All three organizations highlighted achievements in 2023 and presented roadmaps for 2024. The Customs Council has indicated its intention to focus on CPD digitization.
Finally, World Council members Johanna Grombach of Touring Club Switzerland and Luis Figueiredo of Automobile Club de Portugal were re-elected for a two-year term as members of the FIA Mobility Services Commission. I congratulated myself on that.
