Horror show. Horrible. foul. dirty. Sneaky.
Any word like this is appropriate to describe what I chose last week.
I went up 8-5 straight, but it’s okay. But I’m 3-9-1 against the spread and at one point Sunday I was staring Ryan Wilson in the face. Who is Ryan Wilson? Aim for 0-fer with spread picks.
We rallied to win three games, but it wasn’t pretty. This makes my season ATS record for him 91-94-8, which means he’s under .500 again. His straight record is 116 wins and 77 losses.
It’s time to get above .500 with ATS picks. This means a big week for me. After last week’s disaster, I am due to give birth.

The Patriots’ inability to score doesn’t bode well for a Steelers defense that is angry after a disappointing loss to the Cardinals. The Steelers will have Mitch Trubisky at quarterback, and he’s better than Bailey Zappe or Gang or whoever Bill Belichick plays at quarterback. Expect the Steelers to win.
choose: Steelers 23, Patriots 6 (result: Patriots 21, Steelers 18)
Steelers vs. Patriots betting total is set at 30 points. This is one of the lowest numbers in NFL history.. This game is mostly a failure, but what does the Sportsline projection model think? Take a look here.

This is a big division game. Yes, that’s right. The Falcons lead the division, but the Bucks more than kept themselves afloat by defeating Carolina last week. The Bucks pulled off an upset on the road, and it looks like it will be a low-scoring game.
choose: Bucks 20, Falcons 17

It will be a long journey for the Rams to face a team that was eliminated by a bye. The Rams have been one of the surprising teams so far, but this is a big challenge for their defense. Lamar Jackson and the offense will get the best out of that unit, and the Ravens defense will play well against Matthew Stafford.
choose: Ravens 28, Rams 16
Sunday, 1pm ET (Fox; Father and mother)
Weather can be an issue here, and that doesn’t bode well for the Lions. While the Bears are on a bye, they are on the road for the second straight week. Chicago’s defense has improved a lot recently and that will continue. It was a close game as the Lions won late.
choose: Lions 21, Bears 20
Sunday, 1pm ET (CBS, paramount+)
Now that the Bengals beat the Jaguars, this is kind of a big game. The Colts are on the road for the second straight week, but even if it’s a short trip, it’s a challenge. Jake Browning won’t play like he did against Jacksonville, but he’ll play well enough to win this game.
choose: Bengals 27, Colts 23
Sunday, 1pm ET (CBS, paramount+)
CJ Beathard will likely start for the Jaguars in place of the injured Trevor Lawrence, while Joe Flacco could start again for the Browns. Cleveland’s defense is the better of the two and will pose a big challenge to Jacksonville’s offense. It will be a low-scoring game, but Cleveland will come out victorious down the stretch.
choose: Browns 20, Jaguars 14
Sunday, 1pm ET (Fox; Father and mother)
The Panthers are playing their second straight road game, but the Saints could be without Derek Carr. If that happens, Jameis Winston will be the starter. The Saints defense should be able to slow down Carolina’s offense, which isn’t very good. The saints accept it.
choose: Saints 26, Panthers 14
Sunday, 1pm ET (CBS, paramount+)
This is one game to watch out for for the young Texans. While the Jets’ offensive problems are obvious, the defense is more than capable of limiting the Texans’ offense, especially without Tank Dell. Look for low-scoring games where the Texans win close games.
choose: Texans 21, Jets 19
Sunday, 4:05pm ET (Fox; Father and mother)
These two are coming off a bye, which means they are resting. The Vikings need to decide on a quarterback, but that hasn’t been decided yet. The Raiders are 2-2 under coach Antonio Pierce and are playing better football with him as interim coach. I think that’s carried over here as well.
choose: Raiders 24, Vikings 20
Sunday, 4:05pm ET (Fox; Father and mother)
The Seahawks have lost three straight and currently have major issues on defense. The 49ers continue to attack. In other words, there will be a mismatch. The 49ers beat them in Seattle and will do it again this time. I think both teams will score as Brock Purdy continues to win MVP.
choose: 49ers 35, Seahawks 23
Sunday, 4:25pm ET (CBS, paramount+)
The Bills received a bye, but the Chiefs suffered a crushing loss to the Packers on the road. The Bills need this in the worst possible way to have any playoff hopes, while the Chiefs need this to get seeded. This game would be a high-scoring game, with the Chiefs winning in the final minutes. It’s going to be a classic.
choose: Chiefs 34, Bills 33

The Broncos are in the middle of a trifecta of road games, but it’s not going to be easy. The Chargers beat the Patriots last week, but they only scored six points. 6 points? I think things will change here as Justin Herbert plays much better. The Chargers won a game they should have won.
choose: Chargers 27, Broncos 21
Sunday, 8:20pm ET (NBC, Father and mother)
This week’s game. The Eagles have major problems defensively, and they don’t want to play against this high-flying Dallas offense. The Cowboys didn’t play well defensively against Seattle either. The Eagles won the last meeting, but this time the Cowboys got their revenge with a high-scoring game.
choose: Cowboys 34, Eagles 30
Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN, Father and mother)
The Dolphins will face a Tennessee team that has yet to win on the road but has yet to lose at home. Miami will have a big offensive power at home against a struggling Tennessee defense. Look for explosions here.
choose: Dolphins 38, Titans 16
Monday, 8:15pm ET (ABC, Father and mother)
The Packers have won three straight and appear to be on track. The Giants won by default. This won’t be an easy game for the Packers after their big win over the Chiefs, but they will find a way to continue their winning streak. Jordan Love remains hot.
choose: Packers 23, Giants 17
