The Port of Oakland has announced the appointment of Jonathan Beach as its new Chief Real Estate Officer.
Mr. Veitch will be responsible for the Port’s commercial real estate division and land use and development.
The Port of Oakland manages approximately 32 miles of waterfront assets, including Jack London Square, between the Port of Oakland and Oakland International Airport.
In addition to harbor parks and public access, private investment resources are reportedly being leveraged to transform underutilized real estate into mixed-use development projects.

This new role replaces the Director of Commercial Real Estate, who was previously responsible for the Jack London Square Waterfront District. As the Port grew and developed, it recognized that its real estate function needed to take on more responsibilities in order to effectively reflect future real estate demands.
Veach will oversee the use, development and maintenance of real estate assets along Jack London Square, the Oakland Estuary, the Oakland Airport Business Park, and other related assets within the Port’s jurisdiction.

Jonathan Vitch previously served as Executive Director in JPMorgan Chase’s Community Development Real Estate Banking Division, where he provided affordable housing and economic development projects to for-profit and nonprofit developers, government agencies, and community-based organizations. provided financing. .
Veach’s public sector experience includes working as a residential property manager for the City of Santa Clara and the New York City Housing Development Authority.
