There’s nothing worse than the Chargers’ season. Unfortunately, the damage this time is literally enormous. Desperately looking for something positive against the Broncos, Justin Herbert added a broken throwing finger to his ever-growing collection of broken fingers. This marks the official end of another “What have we learned here?” The most troublesome franchise campaign in the league.
All this talent. All these hopes. Why is there nothing more than a broken dream? That’s a problem for another season and definitely a problem for another coach. The only certainty in this latest era of slapstick drama for Chargers football is that Brandon Staley doesn’t have the answers. The coach is I couldn’t tie it correctly I went into Week 14 wondering if Joshua Kelley or Isaiah Spiller would develop a hot hand. They were left frozen.
So, starting off in 2024 with a new head coach (presumably) and supporting cast, things could get much worse before they get better. Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler are in the final stages. Mike Williams was injured. Quentin Johnston is gone. The defense team is aging and injuries are occurring frequently. Expectations will be low for now. At least, that’s what we think now. One of the annual rituals of the offseason is to find ourselves back with the Bolts. May McVay or Shanahan’s disciples be with them.
Week 5 14 Storylines
Justin Jefferson is leaving as quickly as he’s coming back. The best wide receiver on the planet ended up on the receiving side after just 13 plays in his first appearance since Week 5. A literal hospital ball. As the Vikings prepare for what could be their ninth QB change, it’s a horrifying incident that could end up ending Jefferson’s 2023 season. Jefferson, who is in the middle of an unpaid contract year, seemed understandably wary of coming back from a hamstring issue before he was truly 100% healthy. This was a thank you he received and a reminder that he just needed to wait until time passed. Despite injuries and Minnesota’s quarterback woes, the 24-year-old Jefferson remains the best answer to the question, “Who is the No. 1 receiver in dynasty leagues?”
Josh Jacobs injured his knee in the 3-0 loss. At least Jefferson’s team won. Jacobs appeared to be in a lot of pain when he went down in the fourth quarter. He was also pretty disillusioned with just 50 yards on 15 touches. This is the NFL, so of course you only have three days to prepare for Week 15 against the Chargers. Oh, and he probably won’t be suitable for Thursday Night Football. Following Jacobs will be a committee with Zamir White handling early downs and Ameer Abdullah catching passes. All 32 teams are finally in action this week, but even in this run-based offense, White isn’t a particularly appealing streamer.

The Ravens finally got it all together offensively. More precisely, they finally wrapped it all up in fantasy football. The Ravens have scored enough points and won enough games all season. The way it appeared on the digital grid was woefully inconsistent. QB1 Jackson finished Sunday, with Odell Beckham, Zai Flowers and Isaiah Riley each scoring. Each pass catcher also commanded at least seven targets, with both wideouts reaching 10. The kind of thing we’ve been waiting for…but an amazing shootout against the Rams. There’s nothing surprising about the Week 15 shootout against the Jaguars’ leaky pass defense, but for Jackson to be properly conditioned, Trevor Lawrence (ankle) against Baltimore’s elite defense was a must. You’ll need to be healthy.
Jake Browning continues his scam ahead of a tough test in Week 15. Has anyone ever gobbled up so many easy yards on a layup that looks like a screen? Don’t answer that question, Brock Purdy. (This is a joke, I swear. As you’ll soon see, I accepted Purdy’s overlordship.) The answer is probably no. The future prognosis is probably poor. Browning played a great four quarters against the Jags in Week 13. Against the Colts, it was more like a well-timed pitch in the fourth inning. This Saturday’s matchup with Brian Flores’ Vikings will raise the level of difficulty all at once. Flores had a young QB in prison this season. Browning could remain exposed to the waiver wire, especially since all 32 teams are active, reducing the need for streaming.
The Bears and DJ Moore continue to penetrate. You’ve probably already heard me use the phrase “all 32 teams will be in action in Week 15” many times. But one thing we know for sure: DJ Moore is a WR1, no matter how many teams are playing him. Moore is finally being treated like an alpha by quarterbacks, and he’s also a standout play-caller. Chicago is manufacturing Moore’s looks when Fields isn’t giving him traditional targets. As a result, he was in the top 12 every day and had the 9th highest overall PPR fantasy points. The Browns are a much tougher Week 14 matchup than the Lions, but the days of overthinking Moore’s rankings are long gone.

Three more stories for Week 14
All is not as it seems for the New York Texans. There’s no way to sugarcoat this. Nico Collins had just one catch before leaving with a calf injury, while CJ Stroud played a disastrous 3.5 quarters after an unnecessary (but not dirty) follow-up from Jets DL Quinnen Williams. I suffered a concussion in the through game. The injury came at the end of Stroud’s worst performance as a professional, but considering Collins joins Tank Dell, who was shelved due to monsoon-like weather, you can’t blame him. Now, the long-awaited game begins. Collins was dealing with a calf issue as recently as last month and will likely miss Week 15 against the Titans. Stroud’s case is more complicated. If he remains active, Noah Brown and Robert Woods, who were a combined 1/-2 in New York, could be the top two wideouts. Heading into the first week of the fantasy playoffs, the Texans’ entire operation looks like a shaky bet.
Joltin’ Joe Flacco claims to be the leader of the Browns’ offense. And oh, those Browns. It may sound like a parody or a nitpick, but Flacco is performing as the best quarterback he’s been in a while. Flacco has already posted as many three-score performances as Deshaun Watson in a Browns uniform, and his 311 yards on Sunday exceeded what Watson had in Cleveland. That’s not what the Browns are paying! They will still accept the result as Flacco keeps them in playoff contention. The Jags had a very weak matchup in Week 14, but their opponent in Week 15, Chicago, has gradually improved. Anyone who has played fantasy football long enough knows that Flacco himself isn’t going to get much attention. He appears to have the right personnel to retain Amari Cooper, David Njoku, and perhaps Elijah Moore.
Brock Purdy stirs up MVP controversy. With Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts all out of the game, the MVP race is as wide open as it has been in recent years. Enter Purdy and his sensational supporting cast. That’s where Purdy’s argument begins, and probably ends. He’s also not the most valuable player (Trent Williams) in his own offense. Heck, he’s not even the most valuable skill player (Christian McCaffrey). How can he be MVP?Probably because no one else in the entire league is doing it. his job It’s better now. After all, what good is Purdy’s job if he doesn’t put CMC, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle in position to play? Purdy does so with frightening regularity. It’s easy to say Purdy has been eliminated from the MVP race. It’s hard to accept that he’s worthy of consideration.

question
1. Do you remember which team the Panthers beat?
2. Does Derek Carr ever think about anything other than yelling at all of his teammates after making so many mistakes?
3. You have to think it’s a problem for the NFL that Joe Flacco is still the 17th best quarterback in the league, right?

This week’s statistics
On the Lions’ recent offensive struggles: Amon-Ra St. Brown previously cleared the half-century mark 10-of-10, but has been held to under 50 yards in back-to-back games. Meanwhile, Sam LaPorta has set his career-lowest yards twice over the past three weeks against the Bears. The Broncos aren’t in a place to perform in Week 15.
Via Bill Barnwell: “But Jared Goff, who has been under pressure since (the Lions’ Week 9 bye), has a QBR of 0.6. That’s less than 1 in 100, the worst in football.”
Zach Wilson rushed for 300 yards for the third time in his career and scored two scores for the second time in 2023. The team will probably stop immediately against the Dolphins.
Rich Fribar on the Vikings’ defensive superiority: “The Vikings have allowed just one opponent in their last 10 games to take an implied team total hit. 24.4 percent of their drives against MIN have reached or scored before the red zone. , which is the lowest rate in the league. MIN has allowed TDs on a league-low 11.2 percent of drives since Week 4.”
Mike Clay misses another hit on Zack Moss choke: “Zack Moss: 83 percent of the snaps…13 carries, 8 targets…56 total yards, 0 TDs. Another big usage failure. Not ideal.”
Stefon Diggs has averaged five catches for 53 yards in seven games since he last rushed for 100 yards.
