Egypt and Bahrain discuss ceasefire efforts in Gaza
Cairo – December 14, 2023: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa agreed to ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in a telephone conversation on Thursday, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency. We discussed our efforts towards this.
The statement said Sisi congratulated the King on Bahrain’s national holiday and wished the country continued development and prosperity.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations between Egypt and Bahrain, praising the deep ties between the two countries and their leaderships. Both leaders emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to expand cooperation in all areas.
The statement also said the two leaders discussed the situation in Gaza and reviewed ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire and provide humanitarian assistance. Leaders agreed on the need for the international community to implement United Nations resolutions, including Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The call comes as fighting in Gaza continues with no end in sight. The conflict left more than 200 Palestinians and 10 Israelis dead, including more than 60 children.
