Tyreek Hill wasn’t a problem for the Dolphins on Sunday.
Jaylen Waddle caught eight passes for 142 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown to Tua Tagovailoa, and Raheem Mostert ran for two scores as the Dolphins bounced back from their loss to the Titans. Ta. They defeated the Jets 30-0, improving their season record to 9-4 and moving them much closer to the AFC East title.
Mostert’s first score was his 19th of the season, which set him the franchise record for touchdowns in a single season. He also leads the NFL in touchdowns this season, leading 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey with three.
Tagovailoa finished the day 21-of-24 for 244 yards and handed over the reins of the offense to Mike White for much of the fourth quarter. The 290 total yards was the second fewest of the season, but confirmed that the defense didn’t need a flashy offensive day.
Bradley Chubb had three sacks and forced two fumbles, one of which gave the Dolphins the ball at the 1-yard line before Mostert’s first touchdown. The Dolphins also had Trevor Siemian ejected twice in the second half and had six sacks overall while earning a shutout victory.
Siemian sat out the game after Zach Wilson was knocked out with a head injury late in the first half when the Jets gained 4 yards. He ended up gaining 103 yards, but even his slim hopes of making the playoffs disappeared. The Jets’ next drop would be Aaron Rodgers, which would likely rule out a return to play behind an offensive line that has shown little sign of defense. Sunday.
The Dolphins will play the Cowboys at home next weekend, and the Jets will face the Commanders in a battle for draft position.
