Monday, heavy rain and strong winds
A strong storm system will develop on Monday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the region. The height of the storm will occur from about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Here’s a rundown of Monday’s weather headlines:
- Wind: Maximum winds will be 40 to 55 mph inland, with gusts of 50 to 65 mph along the coast.
- Power outage: Widespread power outages are expected in some areas.
- heavy rain: Most of the time we’ll see between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain. Locally 3 to 5 inches in mountainous areas. Minor to moderate river, stream, and urban flooding.
- high tide: 3:02pm, 10 minutes on Monday. Minor to moderate coastal flooding from 2pm to 6pm Monday. 2 to 3 feet of flooding in low-lying areas where large waves are crashing along the coast. It is true that coastal erosion may occur in some places.
The storm will move away by Monday evening, and Tuesday looks to be mainly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated rain may be possible inland, but conditions will remain mostly dry. From Wednesday until the end of the work week, more sunshine but cooler temperatures are expected.
