WEST BEND, Wis. – A major three-phase renovation project will begin in 2024 for the Kettle Moraine YMCA to add a new free weight center and repurpose some of its current space for professional training and pickleball courts. I am planning to do so.
The special committee decided on the changes based on input from members. Following the action plan, changes will be rolled out in her three-step plan.

The six-month conversion project of the racquetball court and current Alloy Studio began on January 29th and is expected to be completed in August.
- The project includes demolishing the current walls and floors and adding a new steel deck in concrete to add 2.n.d. Floors, new flooring, lighting, plumbing, HVAC systems.
- This new space doubles the size of the dumbbell area, quadruples the platform and rack area, and adds lawn space.
- All equipment in the free weight center will be new.
- Old free weight equipment was donated to local police and fire departments, school districts and Moraine Park Technical College.
- 2n.d. A new floor will be added with two bathrooms and a pickleball court. This area will be a flexible multi-purpose space for group fitness, cycling, pickleball, licensed child care and more.
- existing 2n.d. The upper floor of the current Alloy Studio will have updated lighting, air conditioning and a floor lined with a pickleball court.
- Renovating the three remaining racquetball courts at the Y will provide additional space for a free weight center, fitness studio, and pickleball courts.
- After the free weight center is completed in August, the space it once occupied will become a temporary wellness center.
- The two-month renovation of the wellness center includes the demolition of a wall between the existing wellness center and the current cycling studio. The old cycling studio will be equipped with selected strength training equipment.
- We’ve added a free weight area for beginners, dumbbells, squat racks, cable crosses, cardio equipment, a dedicated stretching area, and new flooring.
- After the wellness center is completed in October, the old free weight center will be transformed into a professional training center. His four-week project includes new flooring, adding a lawn area, and all new equipment.
- The area will be home to new businesses: Alloy Group Training Programs, Small Group Personal Training, and Y Sports Conditioning.
